The new commander of the Somali Police force, General Sulub
Ahmed Firin, has officially taken over from the former police chief, General
Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar.
The event was attended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme
Court, the Deputy Prime Minister of the JFS, members of both Houses of
Parliament, members of the Cabinet, the Deputy Prosecutor of the JFS, the
Director of the Immigration and Nationality Agency, Friends' Organizations with
the Zonal Police Force (EUCAP, ATMIS, UNSOM & UNDP). The former commanders
of the armed forces, the deputy commander of the police force, the deputy commander
of the national army and the Banadir regional committee.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the country, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama,
officers and other government officials participated in the transfer of duties
where the new commander took over, in an event that took place at the training
school of the Somali Police Force. .
The former commander of the Somali Police Force, General Hijaar,
who spoke about the transfer of responsibility, said that significant progress
has been made by the police, and the command has deployed police forces to the
liberated areas.
"The Somali Police Force has made significant progress in
recent years, and a new plan and strategy has been prepared for the police to
advance, and the command has deployed police forces to the cities liberated
from al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region," said Commander Hijar. .
Also, the new commander of the Somali Police Force, Sulub Ahmed
Firin, who took office, promised that he will work to deal with the needs of
the police, so that the Somali police can have more power.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the federal government approved the
appointment of the new Chief of the Somali Police General Sulub Ahmed Firin at
the end of last January.
